Giving the gift of vision
to those that
serve & protect

911 Vision Foundation provides no-cost advanced Lasik Vision Correction for our heroic, local first responders in St. Louis and surrounding communities

We recognize the benefits of providing firefighters, police officers and emergency medical service personnel (EMS) with the freedom and safety of great vision without glasses or contact lenses.

Why is this important?

Imagine looking for a small child or older adult in a smoke-filled building while hassling with glasses or contacts under a mask.

Quelling a domestic dispute while wearing glasses that can be knocked off or fog up when going from outside to inside a residence.

Or trying to start an IV line at night in the back of a bouncing ambulance when time is of the essence.

We’ve heard countless stories about how eliminating the need to hassle with glasses or contacts has helped our 1st responders more effectively and safely serve their communities.

Our goal is to provide free LASIK to as many of these heroes as we can.

Through the generous donations from the public and by the University of Missouri St. Louis and Pepose Vision Institute, 911 Vision Foundation has provided the most advanced LASIK vision correction, at no cost, to over one hundred First Responders.

Why We Started Helping
First Responders

In the aftermath of the horrific events that took place on 9/11/2001, Dr. Jay Pepose (Founder of Pepose Vision Institute) contemplated how he could give back to the thousands of First Responders who risked (and gave) their lives to protect and serve their communities and nation. He noted how many of these First Responders wore corrective lenses – contact lenses or glasses – when they functioned in their official capacities. After extensive research into this situation, and through intensive conversations with First Responders throughout the St. Louis region, he came to realize that these corrective lenses seriously impeded the on-the-job safety and performance of First Responders.
